Shortly
after commissioning the 2 towers, OCE also started to install
SWISS CAB cabling line to produce optical fiber cables.
The
cabling lines produces outdoor loose tube and slotted core
cable (slotted core production is now ceased) for long distance
installation. The total annum capacity of cable line is 8000km.
With such capacity, OCE has been supplying and supporting
local and ASEAN telecommunication companies.
In
January 1995, OCE entered into an agreement with NTT International
to terminate optic fiber cable with SC and FC connectors (i.e
pigtails and patchcords) for local and International markets
with the support of production technology from NTTI. With
improvement to technologies acquired, OCE is also able to
terminate cable with ST, LC and MT-RJ connectors.
OCE
has acquired multiple SEIKO and SANKYO mass polishing machines
to produce pigtails and patchcords with highest International
Standard required by telecommunication companies in Japan,
United State of America, United kingdom, Germany, India, ASEAN
countries and Australia. The current termination capacity
in Petaling Jaya factory is 1 million pieces per annum.
In
line with cable termination, the cabling lines were expanded
to produce indoor tight buffered cable including simplex cord,
zipcord and various types of distribution, fan out and break
out cables. However the outdoor slot core cable were made
obsolete.
The
optical fiber need is ever changing. In year 1999, the long
distance cable installation peaked. Most needs were shifting
to metro area network. With fiber cable termination technologies
in hand, OCE was in best position to take the shift in the
industry.
Further
more, OCE recognized that one of the most important ingredient
of the Metro Area Network is ferrule. This is because long
distance cables are brunched to multiple short distance cables
in cities or towns. Each fiber needs to be terminated which
requires splicing to pigtail, and patching from pigtail to
equipment. Each pigtail needs a termination, simplex patchcord
needs two terminations and Zipcord needs 4 terminations. Each
termination required one ferrule. As a result, the ferrule
market expanded rapidly.
OCE
sees the need for ferrule, hence OCE entered into agreement
with a Korean company to help transfer ferrule manufacturing
technology to OCE within 3 years. The expected capacity is
5 million pieces per annum.
In
the meantime OCE has entered into agreement with Taiwan and
Korea manufacturers to produce best quality housing kits,
adapters, couplers/splitters and attenuators.
Year
2001 to 2002, OCE research team studied and recommended products
that manage ever increase complex and spaghetti-like indoor
cabling plant. More fiber management products such as conduit,
trays and panels are made available to our valuable customers.
Today,
OCE has becomes your best optical fiber cabling solution partner
concentrating in making products used for cabling solution.
These products included
- long
haul cables, enclosures, splicing tool kits and splicing
tray,
- outdoor
direct burial pipe, indoor cables, duct and conduits for
last mile transmission, indoor and estate cabling,
- connectorisation
tools, fiber management system for cable to equipment and
equipment to equipment patching solution and
- media
converter for electronics driven equipment to take advantages
of light.
OCE
is being transformed from technologies acquiring company to
technologies providing company. OCE trained and still training
world class installers to make optical cabling solution. OCE
is involved in transferring optic cable manufacturing technologies
to other companies.
With
the large resources offered by RH group of companies, OCE

for manufacturing high tech and quality semi-conductor products)
